Sasha Rodionov, a sly cash-out operator from Moscow, owes money to a dangerous authority nicknamed Beekeeper. He does not forgive delays and deals harshly with debtors, so Sasha and his family flee to Dagestan under the witness protection program. But his wife and children are sure that this is an ordinary vacation, and now Sasha is forced to pass off a dilapidated barn in a mountain village as a fashionable eco-hotel. However, the popularity of the hotel gives away Rodionov's location to his ill-wishers.
Moscow schoolboy Volodya accidentally fishes out of the Moscow River a mysterious lamp, from which the genie Khottabych appears. He promises to fulfill any of his wishes, but each of them turns into unexpected consequences. Magic multiplies, rather than solves Volodya's problems. Nevertheless, the schoolboy is imbued with the genie's problems and, as a result, finds himself in the past, where Khottabych's daughter marries an unloved man. Trying to destroy this marriage and free Khottabych, Volodya and his friends go to an ancient Eastern wedding.
