Stuck due to bad weather at a tiny Far Eastern airport, several random travel companions become witnesses of an amazing meeting. As it turns out, one of the passengers was brought here not by chance. He is the son of an American pilot who ended up at the airfield during the war years, which was built to transfer planes from Alaska to Russia. And here he meets a woman who saved his father's life forty years ago.
Eduard Avdonin, a sable fur specialist, is murdered in Siberia, in one of the fur reserves. The case is assigned to senior investigator Dagurova of the prosecutor's office. She rejects one suspect after another. Having found out that the deceased was a poacher, Dagurova soon comes to the conclusion that the murder was committed by the director of the reserve Gai, who organized the illegal sale of furs abroad. Now the lives of the investigator and witnesses are in danger.
Divorced Maria and married Ofelia work as ladies' masters in a Moscow hairdressing salon. Ofelia often complains to her friend about her philandering husband. To reconcile Ophelia and her husband, Maria often visits Ivan at the zoo, where he works as a zookeeper, and gradually becomes attached to him.
