A Mongolian expedition led by Professor Jambon and a group of Soviet explorers travel through the desert to the Alamas Mountains, where large oil deposits are believed to be located. Among the members of the expedition there is a saboteur, on whose tip the expedition is attacked...

A young man, Russian by nationality, goes to a Turkmen bride in a remote border village, not knowing that his large family decides to surprise him and also goes to Turkmenistan to meet the bride and her parents. The chain of comic misunderstandings ends with an episode of a skirmish on the border with saboteurs.

A scientific expedition remains in the taiga for the winter. Encrypted materials of important military significance are sent with engineer Sapov, accompanied by former partisan Oloni, who is to put the engineer on a plane. At one of the stops, Sapov is unexpectedly visited by Inspector Petrov, who is in fact a former White Guard soldier named Yaniga and currently serves in Japanese intelligence. The saboteur's goal is to steal secret documents and flee abroad on this plane. He kills Oloni and recruits Sapov, taking Oloni's son, the pioneer Gaichi, as his guide. The boy, realizing that he is dealing with a fierce enemy, manages to inform the Nanai people, and the border guards who arrive on the scene detain the criminals.

A young Nenets hunter exposes a saboteur who has infiltrated the territory of the USSR, who at first poses as a doctor who has gone astray, and then makes the hunter his hostage.

A Russian outpost in Eastern Siberia comes under threat of attack by the Japanese. Aerograd is a new town with a strategically located airfield of vital interest to the government. Work on the new outpost is complicated when tensions develop between workers and a religious sect. Relations between the two countries are further strained in the days before World War II, dating back to the Russo-Japanese War of 1905.
