Epic film about WWII, a sequel to Utomlyonnye solntsem (1994). Evil Stalin is terrorizing people of Russia while the Nazis are advancing. Russian officer Kotov, who miraculously survived the death sentence in Stalin's Purge, is now fighting in the front-lines. His daughter, Nadia, who survived a rape attempt by Nazi soldiers, is now a nurse risking her own life to save others. The film takes place on the day of the end of the Olympic Games, August 3, 1980. On the eve and during the Olympics, the Moscow authorities are "trapping" and expelling antisocial elements beyond the 101st kilometer. The avant-garde artist Boris falls into this category, he is taken to the police, from where he manages to escape. Boris hides in a village barn, where he is discovered by the 10-year–old son of the hostess, Anna.

The workers fight for their rights creating independent union. They know that it is the only way to struggle against the owners of the plant.

The character of Aleksandr Maslaev represents the Maestro, a kind of modern Mozart, wallowing in corruption, plagiarism, and envy. Once a talented composer, he's totally lost his gift and cynically buys new music from young composers, then plays it under his own name. Yet, the Maestro does not close this chain, for everyone pays his debts...

An employee of the institute of experimental history from Earth, who is send under the name of noble don Rumata of Estor as a spy with a mission to contact the local resident of the institute, arrives in the city of Arkanar. But the resident perishes under an unlucky attempt to make a palace coup, and Rumata have to take his place as the resident. Soon he meets all the horrors of the medieval society - a peasant war, palace coups, mass executions. To continue to be an indifferent watcher of all these horrors turns out to be simply impossible...

An anthology film about the common topic of the Holocaust and honouring the memory of the victims. What caused the mass extermination of people on a national basis? Where do origins of interethnic intolerance, anti-Semitism, nationalist propaganda come from? Today these issues are still topical. Nationally motivated conflicts still fare up between people; national hostility is still kindled. There are voices that deny the reality of the Holocaust as a historical fact. We cannot allow a repetition of the monstrous tragedy and should never forget about it!

The world of the novel is fully and completely hanged around the unique instrument which got through all horrors of the war. The story begins in a violin shop in Nuremberg, where in the beginning of the XX century the violin was created. Hundred years later, through the hands of various owners, the violin finally ends up at the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem.

The testament of a former concentration camp prisoner confronts and turns the lives of two young people from different worlds around, shedding light on the tragic history of their family.
