A very old man comes to the provincial town where he spent his youth. The flood of memories takes him far from reality, to which a little girl returns him, like two peas in a pod like his first love.

This movie is based on a novel by Boris Vasiliev and describes life in a small Russian provincial town in 1940 - one year before Germany invaded the Soviet Union. The main characters of the film are ordinary Soviet high school students. They study in the Soviet school, try to be correct and ideological Komsomol activists. But not always the “correctness” suggested by the teachers coincides with the inner convictions of young souls - it is difficult for them to come to terms with the fact that their relatives and loved ones are suddenly “enemies of the people”.

The main Santa Claus was injured and will not be able to give all the children gifts and arrange a New Year's miracle. Then it was decided to send his son, the still inexperienced Santa Claus, to save the holiday. However, having moved out on a mission, young Frost loses his magic staff, and he finds himself somewhere on the outskirts of Moscow. The magical power hidden in the staff is possessed by an official who uses it for his own purposes. And Frost-son is trying to navigate the New Year's metropolis and cope with the difficult task set for him.

The story is about how a metropolitan writer, concerned about the “fifth point of his questionnaire,” instead of the noble or, at worst, rabbit fur assigned to him by rank, was given a “medium fluffy domestic cat” at the Literary Fund, and how he, previously quiet and inconspicuous, ventured to a “mutiny on a ship” confidently cutting through the waters of “socialist realism.”

The near future. A prolonged economic crisis has undermined the last remaining foundations of the world order. In this chaos, a night bank clerk is taken hostage, and the hostage-taker’s demand is to withdraw money from a client's account. Trying to prevent this, the clerk realizes that his family is in grave danger.

An actor by vocation and a moving mannequin by profession, having said goodbye to his wife, who is leaving for America, he himself decides to leave this country, where, in order to somehow preserve his Self, he has long ago become a “foreigner” for everyone. But the adventure in which the hero gets involved before leaving returns him the ability to speak his native language and gives him a chance for love...

Closely based on Franz Kafka's book "Das Schloß", the movie shares the same action on a land surveyor who is called to a village to do a job that no one seems to have ordered. Once there, he takes up the struggle against bureaucracy emanating from the castle.
