It all begins when Zuzanka, the new young owner, arrives at the dilapidated Blue Star Hotel. Determined to put the declining inheritance back on its feet, she starts chasing three young men, including the composer Jirka, who, dressed in a waiter's tailcoat, is to work off his debt to the new owner. Like his two friends, Jirka succumbs to the charms of his new boss and, with some confidence, hopes that he is the one who has the best chance of becoming her chosen one. At that moment, however, a guest arrives, intent on carrying out the family tradition and throwing an engagement party at the Blue Star Hotel, regardless of his condition. This, however, is not to the liking of his wilful fiancée. Fortunately, there is the sympathetic Zuzanka, who charms the unusual guest so much that he resolutely breaks off his engagement to the rich girl and prefers to marry the cute hotelier.

The determined Mrs. Barbora Čápová, the owner of a goose farm in Brousilov, is trying to get her daughter married. The advertisement receives a whole box of responses, so the caring mother has plenty to choose from. Pavel Stehlík appears to be the most suitable candidate, and since her daughter also likes him, a famous party is held. The newlywed is not proud of the fact that he is literally drowning in debt. Moreover, he gets along suspiciously well with his father-in-law, and the two have all sorts of falling out. After some time, they set off on a trip to Prague together. As if by chance, Mrs. Barbora is on the same trip that same day - and meets her husband at a variety show, where she went with an old acquaintance. She promises cruel revenge on the unfaithful man, but her plans are thwarted by a completely unexpected event...


A graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy, Karel Stržický earns extra money in the summer as a day laborer for the landowner Drahan. Jarča, the Drahans' daughter, spends the holidays with her parents, and her father has a lot of worries about her. The unsuccessful student is failing her German. However, an easy solution is offered - Karel will prepare her for remedial work. The mischievous Jarča considers him an ordinary coachman, and so she initially turns her nose up at him. However, the cultured young man manages to win her trust and heart. This does not go down well with his rival in the fight for the girl's favor, and he immediately comes up with a nasty slander: Karel is supposedly a former convict! A rift is not long in coming...

Věra accepts the offer of her friend Kajetán, who arranges a position for her in Dominik's puppet factory. The spirited girl impresses her employer, Antonín Dominik, so much that he falls in love with her. Dominik's mother notices her son's interest in Věra and immediately fires her. Kajetán, who works in the studio of sculptor Výr, who is engaged in the production of mechanical puppets that can be used to advertise goods, asks Věra for help...

The owner of a fashion factory, Rafael Klučina, is desperately looking for an imaginative advertising campaign that would attract the public and raise the profile of his business. However, the head of his advertising department, Filip Muška, seems unable to come up with one. In the end, they are helped by the model Boženka Smolíková and her talent for perfect disguises and masks. The unusual advertising campaign involves Boženka traveling around the country for fourteen days in model clothes, and whoever recognizes her will win a prize of fifty thousand crowns...

Dentist Dr. Matys employs two laboratory assistants, brothers Alois and Benjamin Zoubkova. They also serve as occasional nannies, because the young doctor is living with his widowed stepfather, former forest manager Václav Bezdětek, and his four small children. The brothers would like to marry their beloved boss, but they know that they must first find a new wife for Bezdětek. All the men are irritated by the radio feminist lectures of a certain Marta Kočová, who preaches against men who serve women and even give birth to children "on demand"...

A lost lady's glove that connects several human destinies. The focus here is not on the lost part of the wardrobe, but on piano virtuoso Arne Brant, a man armed with a charming smile and surrounded by women, two of whom have particularly influenced his life. The first is the daughter of a famous can-can star, dancer Pavlína Doré-Zejdová, the second is Mařenka Berková, the main character of the film and a kind of Kristián in skirts. An orderly and well-bred daughter from an honorable family who lives her second life as a lady of high society. The lost glove complicates the situation for all of them considerably, but in the end she finds her rightful place, just like the heroes of the film...
