Renato is a shy and insecure young man, who expresses what he truly thinks only through emails. He writes to his co-workers, girlfriend, parents… he doesn't hide anything, says everything he thinks. Absolutely everything! And when it's time to send… he doesn't. Goes to the drafts folder. One day, with no explanation, all of his drafts are sent, and suddenly he has to face the dire consequences of being who he really is.

Three young people arrive from different parts of the country to go to college in Sao Paulo. On their first day there, a strange and intense attraction unites them. Together, they rent an apartment and begin living together, in close quarters. Sharing kisses and fond embraces. College days however soon come to an end and, with each having different paths to trail, separation is imminent. And consequently, their gestures, words and attitudes take on a new weight. Touching each other now takes on a new significance. Words of love are weighed down by consequences.

Álvares de Azevedo was a 19th century Brazilian romantic writer. He died prematurely (died at the age of 21), but left a significant work for Brazilian literature. Among her, the novel “Noite na Taverna”. The film, loosely inspired by the book, tells a day in the life of its author in parallel with that which is one of its darkest and most complex characters, Johann. Inserted in the same universe (a hypothetical São Paulo of 1850), Álvares lives a normal day of his academic life while Johann is involved in a death duel that triggers in several other consequences such as murder and rape.

One day, Eduardo arrives at his house and discovers that Julia, his wife, tried to commit suicide. She left her husband and two children without saying goodbye. After some time, she comes back home. He tries everything to set her straight, but the impossibility of knowing her fully grieves him. The shadow of the suicide and the inevitable ghost of a new chance hover over their heads. Eduardo insists on understanding his wife, but an increasing jealousy and an unexpected discovery of her past torture him. He does not realize that, most of the time, the search for control easily becomes an obsession.
