She has always been a truth-seeker, principled, honest, convinced of her rightness, and this has often led to conflicts. Having worked almost 40 years on the farm, Praskovya was forced to retire. But before leaving, she said that now she has a lot of time, and she will take care of their affairs...

The action takes place during the German occupation of Ukraine in 1919. The main characters are folklore characters - the brave soldier Semyon Kotko and the beautiful maiden Sofya.
