Follows a young cyclo driver on his poverty-driven descent into criminality in modern-day Ho Chi Minh City. The boy's struggles to scratch out a living for his two sisters and grandfather in the mean streets of the city lead to petty crime on behalf of a mysterious Madame from whom he rents his cyclo.

The two villagers are in a deep dispute which stops all villagers loving people from the other. Couples of two village died for love and they claimed war to each other lots of time. But a regular situation happened when French came, they went invading those remote villages and made people work for them. A girl had been raped and murdered by a French leader, so will two villages come to co-operation? Or they will fight a lone to thư enemy, the most dangerous enemy they have met in their lives?
Adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Ung Ngoc Tri, the film is a journey to pursue the dream of being a soldier by a young man named Long as well as his wartime love affair with an American nurse.
