A modern-day children’s fairy tale that is also a parody of prank films which, in 1980s Israel, were a highly popular film genre. In the magical land of Bubble Gum where all children’s dreams are made, live two princesses: the kind-hearted Tzipi (Tsippi Shavit) and her wicked sister, Pitzi (Seffy Rivlin). Every year on 1 April (April Fools’ Day), the princesses’ birthday, the two hold a prank competition amongst themselves, with the winner getting to rule the land of Bubble Gum for one year. Rounding off Shavit and Rivlin’s adventure and prank fest is a talking robot and a group of children including one Natasha Braunstein – who will go on to become US actor Natasha Lyonne of Orange is the New Black and Russian Doll fame.

Menachem and Rosa Greenberg, a couple of Holocaust survivors, have had a difficult life. Their friend, Morris Greenspan, made his fortune in Canada through shady deals, and is a despicable character who urges the couple to emigrate from Israel to the good life in Canada. Their son, Chaim "Chaimon" Greenberg, is aware of the growing conflicts in his parents' home in light of their financial difficulties and the interference of their mysterious friend, who is also secretly courting his mother. His sister, Miri, is a naive teenager who falls under the spell of Shultz "the Hontroveltnik". Other participants in the film include Oshik Levi as the taxi driver, their neighbor and friend of their parents, Shai Idelson as Gaby, Chaimon's best friend and the taxi driver's son, and Sini Pater as Uncle Leizer from the kibbutz, who represents the Zionist antithesis to Morris's exile and smoothness. In the end, after a crisis that threatens the narrator's world, the family decides to stay in Israel.

Ya'ara, a blind PhD candidate in Mathematics at Princeton University, hears of her cousin Talia's suicide. Ya'ara rushes back to Israel. They were best of friends and twin spirits. Talia saw for both of them, and was always the one who believed and led Ya'ara to believe, that in spite of her blindness, Ya'ara could see everything. Ya'ara joins Talia's family for the traditional 7-day mourning period and there, she discovers the secrets of Talia's life and embarks on an investigation trying to discover the reason that led Talia to commit suicide.
