When the Governor gets Dawson to go after Ace Carter and his gang, Dawson gets him to release four prisoners into his custody. Arriving in town, Carter frames Dawson for murder and his stooge Judge sentences him to be hung. The four ex-convicts arrive in time to save Dawson but one of the four is a double-crosser and this means more trouble for Dawson.
Bill's wife insists that he get her a fur coat, and since he cannot afford to buy one, he goes on a hunting trip, hoping to capture some furs himself. Meanwhile, a temperamental actress, needing a rest for her nerves, has made plans to visit the same hunting lodge where Bill will be staying. They and several others meet at the lodge, resulting in chaos and confusion.

He gets into the prison, becomes president of the prisoners' union, does his interview, successfully woo's the warden's daughter, and gets out in time to publish his story before anyone else does.
