The beautiful Sonya, the leading actress of the provincial theater, comes to Moscow. She is thirty years old and she understands that she does not have much time to realize her dream and become a real star. After another unsuccessful test, Sonya falls asleep in one of the Mosfilm pavilions, since she has nowhere to live. When the security guard tries to force her out of the film studio, Masha comes to her aid. Masha, at twenty-eight, is in no hurry. After graduating from the theater school, Masha recovered and does not feel confident in her body. Having chosen the position “my body is my business”, Masha finds herself in the safe world of cartoon voice acting. Masha is kind, with a good sense of humor.

Kolya gets a tattoo with the Bernaki logo on his forehead and becomes the face of an advertising campaign. As the mass deportations of the Chechen and Ingush peoples begin in 1944, young Daud and Seda escape to the mountains. When they get back to their native village, however, they witness a horrifying war crime.

The film takes place in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku at the end of the 1980s. At this time, the Soviet Union was starting to fall apart, and with this came the start of a number of ethnic conflicts. Fariz and his family move into a Baku apartment block from war-torn Nagorno-Karabakh. Fariz's relations with his new neighbors are strained by his accusations that it was people like them who failed to support the Azeris in their conflict with ethnic Armenians. The only one who stands up to him is Alik, who acts as peacemaker between him and the older inhabitants of the building. Alik has no reservations about brandishing his gun in order to keep the peace. One day, the apartment managers want to evict a number of musicians who have been squatting in the basement. Alik gets involved, but soon discovers the situation is more complicated that he first believed.

Independent, successful, lonely woman, who's used to ruling men, suddenly stucks in the situation when she feels weak and powerless. She has to ask for a help and her saviour is a stranger skier. He agrees to help but only on one condition...

Residents of a big city, each of whom has their own sexual problems and desires, secret and, most often, shameful from the point of view of society, need to solve them. Each of the characters tries to solve their problems in their own way: someone sublimates them, someone turns to a psychotherapist for help, someone rushes into experiments... but sooner or later they all return to where they started, and they have to overcome themselves again and again to get at least a little, even a millimeter closer to their happiness.
