In the 1930s, three unsuccessful variety artists dream of making it big. When they hear about the rise of sound films in Hollywood, they see their chance: a language school for silent film stars will bring them fame and success. Full of hope, they travel to California, straight into the exciting world of the first sound film productions. But not everything goes as planned...
An elderly lady has a trauma and simply must celebrate Christmas every day of the year, to the dismay of her family and relatives.
Hilde Breitner, a contented factory worker, faces upheaval when her husband becomes disabled and dies from occupational illnesses. Financial setbacks hit her daughters - one loses her new snack stand, the other abandons university to work in the factory - forcing Hilde to confront her own economic vulnerability. Awakening to workers’ rights, she becomes her workplace’s employee representative, learning to advocate for change.
The municipal gasworks are equipped with ultra-modern electronic booking machines. Lothar Krake, a small employee, is working on such a monster and makes a typo. He doesn't dare admit the mistake for fear of losing his position. With the wrong name, he creates a new customer named Alexander Dubronski, for whom over time Krake manufactures a life of unimagined proportions. Krake lets him live with him, gets him an extra gas meter and one day even writes his memoirs. Money rolls in, but Krake is overwhelmed by the inevitable complications. (via 3sat)

The idea is an appealing satirical "comparison of systems" that suffers from somewhat uninspired direction.
