As the 30-year crisis looms, five older young people in Copenhagen find good reason to reconsider their lives. Dennis is about to move in with Kirsten, but he has his reservations, and she has her own unconscious agenda. Thomas and Søs have lived together for several years, but never before have they found reason to doubt the strength of their relationship, given her desire to have children. And Mads is a professional soccer player who has to deal with his own and everyone else's expectations. All of them come to realize that when you are forced to make a choice without knowing the consequences in advance, it can be more than difficult to figure out the next step.

Way up north in Greenland lives 12-year-old Lucia with her mother and her father, who is best known as Father Christmas. Lucia is the first girl ever in Santa class at the international Christmas School. On the day that the present machine is supposed to be started for this year’s present production, Lucia’s best friend, the reindeer herder Oscar, is accused of stealing King Winter’s magical crystal that fuels the present machine. Claudia, Lucia’s mother who has long been wary of the crude Oscar, tries to prevent Lucia from ruining her future career by defending the seemingly guilty boy. But Lucia is determined to fight injustice and escapes with Oscar to prove his innocence by finding the real thief.

The film follows Daniel’s struggle to survive in captivity, his friendship with James, and the nightmare of the Rye family back home in Denmark as they try to do everything in their power to save their son. At the center of this crisis, we find hostage negotiator, Arthur, who plays a pivotal role in securing Daniel’s release.
