A young worker takes a job at a local state run winery only to discover and become disillusioned by the corruption of the Soviet State.
Soviet border guards detained a suspicious individual who claimed to be a lost archaeologist. However, the soldiers were alarmed by the radio transmitter and code he possessed. The case was handed over to the KGB, who were tasked with tracking down and neutralising the foreign intelligence agent the detainee had been in contact with.
The action takes place in America, where an unemployed man named Tony, who has come to seek his fortune, steals a large sum of money and meets a young woman at a dance hall. They decide to return the stolen money, only to find the owner murdered. Tony is accused of the murder and imprisoned.
The second part of Soviet filmmaker Sergei Bondarchuk's epic biography of John Reed. It is October 1917 and the American journalist has found himself and his wife, Louise Bryant, in Petrograd on the eve of the Bolshevik revolution.
