1905 was a period of heavy immigration from Europe to America before laws were passed restricting the flow of immigrants. Almost every character in this movie is a recent arrival. Tisa has been in America only four months, yet she is holding four jobs to save enough money to pay for her father's boat passage to America. She works in a garment factory in Greenwich Village owned by Mr. Grumbach, who is studying to pass his citizenship test. Denek, a brash young man, tries to help her but gets her into trouble and her deportation is ordered by an immigration judge.
This entry of Universal's Sporting Youth series goes to the racetrack. The father of Cudgie (Sumner Getchell) has a horse entered in the Big Steeplechase. Judy (Ann Christy, Cudgie's girlfriend, learns that the jockey has taken a bride to throw the race, so she replaces him and wins the stock-footage race from a Universal feature film.
Judy (Ann Christy), dresses as a boy in order to attend the ceremony where "Cudgie" (Sumner Getchell) is being inducted into a fraternity at the college. The sign over the door at the fraternity has been moved, to fool her, to a building where, unknown to the frat boys, a notorious criminal is hiding.
A C-47 transport plane, named the Corsair, makes a forced landing in the frozen wastelands of Labrador, and the plane's pilot, Captain Dooley, must keep his men alive in deadly conditions while awaiting rescue.
