An adaptation of a short story "Joseph" written by Umakanta Mahapatra and is set in the foothills of the Himalayas between 1960 and 1980 in India. Father O'Hara (Victor Banerjee), a missionary doctor with the help of his caretaker Maularam (Sudarshan Juyal), raises an orphan baby Josef (Hitesh Bisht). While still a young boy, Josef is sent to Dehradun, Uttarakhand, for his studies and vocational training. Josef (Subrat Dutta) returns back with a reputation as a great cook as well as his love for alcohol. The film explores in its unfolding of time, the different paths that Father O'Hara, Josef, and Maularam take in their respective journeys for spiritual fulfillment through memories, duty, and search as well as the their interaction with friends and acquaintances. Through static mis-en-scenes, the narrative of the film reflects the all-encompassing nature of time, pre-empting and repeating itself in allegorical hues.

Set in the picturesque Himalayas, Hansa attempts to depict the trials and tribulations faced by the villagers who reside there. The movie is seen from perspective of a little boy, Hansa and his sister, Cheeku’s eyes. Their father has mysteriously disappeared and a lot of the responsibility falls on Cheeku who has to prevent her house from getting sold and is at the receiving end of a powerful villager’s lecherous advances while little Hansa is too restless and distracted to pay attention to all the trouble his sister is facing.

Oblique, eerie and mysterious, 'The Girl' is about the violence and horror of childhood. The Girl lives in an isolated mansion in the woods in the mountains of India, with a woman, the 'Mad Lady.' This woman is her caretaker and watches her all the time. Their odd life is disrupted when the Mad Lady can see something she was previously oblivious to. Inspired by Indian Gothic greats like 'Mahal' from the forties and the European avant-garde films from the twenties, 'The Girl' is a gothic tale about the resilience of children.
