Jazz keyboardist George Duke is joined by a host of accomplished musicians for this 1983 concert event at Tokyo's Shibuya Public Hall. Combining the sounds of jazz, funk, and dance music, the all-star band jams to "Sweet Baby," "I Want You for Myself," "Love Reborn," "Mouth Grooves," "Dukes Shuffle," and many others. Band members include Steve Ferrone, Louis Johnson, Paul Jackson Jr., Robert Brookins, Lynn Davis, and Marci Levy.

In 1990, Eric Clapton performed 18 nights at one of his favourite venues - the famous Royal Albert Hall in London. During the 18 run of shows, Clapton performed with three different line-ups: a rock band, a blues band, and an orchestra. Eric returned to the same venue in 1991 with the same three line-ups and played a further 24 shows. The huge undertaking of rehearsing for performances of three distinctly different genres was made even more challenging by the line-up for the rock shows varying from 4, 9 or 13 band members.

The film begins its tour at Andora Studios during the 1994 recordings of Wildflowers, then travels North America alongside the Heartbreakers as director and honorary "sidebreaker" Martyn Atkins is privileged to photograph candid moments, interviews and performances over the next 400 days.

Taped for a two-part PBS Soundstage, Petty employs the Chicago locale as an entry into the blues and R&B that are at the foundation of rock & roll, and to a lesser extent, his music. This results in a fascinating and exciting show, where the extensive covers are just as interesting as -- and arguably more interesting than -- the few hits he gets around to playing.
