The end of the 19th century. Constantinople. Having found out his wife's treachery, Baghdasar decides to divorce her. But that's not how it turned out! Instead, the hypocrisy and the mendacious people around Baghdasar make him leave the house.

Gevorg Adamyan is a man of power who enjoys many privileges and is guided throughout his life by the slogan "the purpose justifies the means". This enables him always to stay at the top of the pyramid but, at the same time, gradually ruins him as a person and brings unhappiness to his own family, destroying the lives of his close friends and relatives.

Bolshevik Tsolak Darbinyan is infiltrated into Dashnak Army as a musician of Army music band. Despite the initial personal conflict with band leader Arsen, he is able to win the friendship of young band musicians including Arsen and to persuade them to back him on the eve of the Bolshevik invasion to Armenia.

A village boy meets his tragic fate when he is sent to the city to work for a rich trader.

The young couple, opposing the environment and especially the prohibitions of the girl's father, find the strength to stay true to their love.

Nothing is easy for Torik, a shy orphan adopted by his aunt and uncle: he struggles to fit into village life, learn a craft, or find a wife. When Torik does fall in love – with Anjel, a local prostitute – he must face down the disapproval of his narrow-minded community and assert his right to happiness.

The main character of the film is an outstanding physicist who was invited to Armenia from Russia to head a lab. He comes across many troubles in his homeland, but nevertheless finds his true love there.

The film is based on the classic circus reprises of the famous mime Leonid Yengibarov. The game plot follows the twists and turns of the protagonist's inner state, which becomes a creative impetus for creating and performing the reprises.
