Biography
Srdan Golubović (Cyrillic: Срдан Голубовић; born August 24, 1972) is a Serbian film director. Golubović's father was the film director Predrag Golubović. His first feature film Absolute 100 participated in main programs of over thirty international film festivals, including Cottbus, Rotterdam, Thessaloniki, Toronto, and San Sebastian, winning 10 international and 19 domestic awards. His second feature film Klopka ('The Trap') had its world premiere at the Berlinale in 2007. The film has won a total of 21 international awards and was shortlisted for the Oscar in Best Foreign Language Film category. Along with a team of young film artists, Golubović is the primary vehicle behind the production company Baš Celik, making music videos for a number of established local music artists, as well as commercials and marketing campaigns. He is an assistant professor of Film Directing at The Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. His 2013 film Circles has been selected as the Serbian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards. His 2020 film Father won the Panorama Audience Award at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival. Sonja, once a popular Serbian actress settled in Slovenia is on a short visit to Belgrade. She panics claiming that her daughter Sofia has been kidnapped, then disappears. Inspector Despotovic is assigned to the case and when he finds Sonja, she admits that she made everything up, that she never had a child, and therefore there was no kidnapping. But a Secret Service veteran approaches Despotovic and tells him that the story about kidnapping is true. It is highly classified information. The father of the child is Foreign Affairs Minister. On the other hand, Minister claims that the Secret Service has made everything up trying to compromise him. Despotovic is puzzled... Who is lying? Who is telling the truth? Who is insane? Who is about to die?

The Trap
Mladen and Marija are an ordinary and happy married couple of the "middle class" of the society in which they live as tenants. Mladen works as a civil engineer in a state company, and Marija is an English teacher in primary school. The couple finds joy in their only son, Nemanja. Circles (Serbian: Krugovi) is a Serbian movie based on the true story of a Serbian soldier who risked his life to protect a Muslim civilian during the war in Bosnia. During the war in Bosnia in 1993, a Serbian soldier pays for his life after protecting a Muslim civilian from being attacked by three other soldiers. 12 years later, the consequences of this act of heroism are still having their repercussions.
