Kannayiram, a powerful gangster, kills Ramasamy, for not giving up his land to him. After hearing this news, Shiva, Ramasamy's brother, flees the military camp to avenge his brother's death.

A wealthy man is known and revered for his just nature all over the region. His brother is married to an arrogant girl while there are others who are continuously plotting against this family.

Kannan's (Karthik) ambition in life is to take up the construction of the temple left incomplete by his forefathers. Funds are not forthcoming. What follows next forms the crux of the story.
