Evening. Periphery of the city. A seemingly banal phone call between a man and a woman turns into a single contact between a mugged girl and her boyfriend. Can the man intervene in time to save the girl?
Count Frank Kostka, his wife Vivien and their daughter Marie live in their ancestral castle Kostka. They are helped by the housekeeper Mrs. Tichá, the handyman Krása and the Castellan Josef. The original interest of visitors to the castle in the Curse of Comtesse Marie is no longer the same as before, which does not bother Maria at all – at least she has enough time for her Max, a nobleman from the next Castle Hvězda. Frank, however, is at a loss, there is not enough money either for salaries or for the necessary repairs. And just then, Bendy's lawyer's daughter Deniska appears, stirring up the tranquil waters of the ancestral home...
This existential drama depicts a godless and stressed family whose members do not live happy lives. A household without joy and pervaded by nervousness, dissatisfaction, and frustration creates an oppressive atmosphere. Everyone hides their desires and dreams within themselves. Unexpectedly, a bigoted grandmother visits this family and begins to "save" them. The mother, father, and teenage daughter are exposed to her criticism on a daily basis, and the grandmother's idea of redemption is forcefully imposed on them. The family undergoes a forced transformation, especially when apparent miracles begin to happen. However, this process increasingly repels the granddaughter, who is experiencing her own adolescent problems, and her clash with her grandmother ends in tragedy.

Famous actor Bořivoj Vojan arrives unexpectedly at a student film festival in a small town. The smug, aging man has bruised his ribs on the way and his frustration deepens with every passing minute of his stay – the amateurish organization of the festival, the lousy food, the private accommodation with the confused grandmother Pánková. What's more, he has no idea that one of the most unpleasant encounters awaits him, with the local drunk journalist Merhautová. But there is also tension among the students who organize the festival – Míra is ambitious and promiscuous, Šárka is kind and naive, Jana is beautiful and manipulative, and Matyáš is perpetually stoned and childishly in love.
Colorful characters of various ages, personalities, professions, and hobbies are all searching for happiness, though each in a different place and with a different outcome.
