After being shot fleeing from a gunfight, the bandit Jaime falls to a riverbank, where is rescued by two beautiful young women. He becomes involved romantically with Dorothy, daughter of a farmer, and for her sake, surrenders to the police. Upon leaving the prison, Jaime has to face Xavier, a bloodthirsty villain who plans on taking revenge on Dorothy's father.

The fictional encounter in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (in the 30s) between popular songwriter Lamartine Babo and inconoclast poet and playwright Oswald de Andrade.
