21st Century Girl is an omnibus feature that is of the girls, by the girls and for the girls. The work of 15 women directors under the age of 30, each of whom contributed an 8-minute film, the package highlights a range of genres, visions and thematic concerns.
After spending 13 years in prison for committing murder, Yoko is released and is reunited with her daughter Akari, who was raised in a children's home. Now, the two begin a new life together in Akari's home in a quiet port town. As if trying to make up for the years lost, the mother and daughter slowly begin to reconnect despite the unease they feel toward one another.
Shinsuke Kujo is a chair craftsman who lures people into his apartment and murders them to use the body parts for constructing a chair. Kato, a representative of a chair company, finds his website on social media and suggests a meeting. She's quickly enamored with him both professionally and personally, unaware of his true nature as a serial killer.
After seeing her friend’s disturbing social media posts, Riko tries to intervene to help her but fails to prevent her from dying a mysterious, violent death. Convinced there is more to the story than a suicide, Riko dives into a world of memes, influencers, and posting for attention. As the pile of bodies grows, and Riko faces her own possible curse, she and her friends travel to Taiwan to find the source of this demonic social media killer.
