A beautiful portrait of a woman living in a small Russian village after World War II. A piercing meditation on family unity.
It took nine years to create two feature films. They were conceived as a movie-diptych about Leonid Fedorov and a group of musicians formed around him.
The plot follows the events surrounding Vladimir from childhood and into adulthood. In the beginning of the film, being under the influence of the high priest Krivzha, the Prince is a young, impulsive and cruel pagan. Fighting for supreme power, Vladimir wins a battle that kills his brother. Regretting what he has done, Vladimir does not suspect a conspiracy between the priest and the Pechenegs. Vladimir is concerned about gathering the Slavic tribes into one united state. Solving this major task, he faces obstacles, which Vladimir overcomes in the end, defeating Krivzha and winning the battle against Kurya, a Pecheneg chief.
It is August 1941. With the battle line far away in the east, three soldiers who have managed to escape from captivity find it difficult to hide: the territory is occupied by the enemy. The local woods are not safe: you can easily get embogged. Are the villagers loyal? Nobody can say. There is an old man who offers to help them. Is he reliable enough? He may kill them or report them to the local German authorities. Anything may happen, but one of them, the sniper, is his son who is his youngest, his dearest.
The film tells about the Russian North - the territory of unique wooden architecture and one of the few places in the country where a Russian person can realize the origins of his culture and spiritual development. It was here that people were found who were ready to revive the traditional rural way of life in spite of globalization and the state policy of urbanization.
The film is devoted to our mothers. The fantastic story about the power of simple people, capable of living and surviving in the most complex circumstances, about love, loyalty and beauty
Since ancient times, Altai has been the cradle of countless peoples and tribes, the birthplace of conquerors, and the source of myths and legends. Altai is a unique cauldron in which different nationalities have mixed, and it is not for nothing that it is called the "crossroads of civilizations." The world of the ancient Scythians, Turks, Huns and many others was tempered and forged into a special ethnic group. This film tells about the interweaving of religions, nationalities, cultures and about the present day of Altai.
