Lithuania in the near future. The land is full of rich immigrants. Rich Lithuanians that were scattered throughout the world return to Lithuania to spend their golden years in luxurious nursing homes; and the laws that govern life and death provide a feeling of security... The residents of the Garden of Eden look upon this "global theatre of life" with tearful smiles and great wisdom.

With gentle irony, “Cinephilia” unmasks the illusion of film. Characters migrate through the worlds of reality and fantasy, in circumstances that paradoxically have no questions or answers. The two moons of Lars von Trier shine in the night sky, entrancing the main heroes, Roland and Isabel. Roland rents himself a room where he winds up in situations reminiscent of the plots found in Franz Kafka’s “The Trial” or Roman Polański’s “The Tenant”. A guy visits Roland, claiming that they known each other, and offers him a lot of money to film his suicide. There begins a kaleidoscopic sequence of events and random acquaintances. They make the characters wander through the worlds of reality and fantasy, sometimes both at the same time. A dark comedy that tells nine related stories in which the fates of the characters intertwine.

This is a story about the love of two people in difficult times of war, about love that overcomes all obstacles, appearing unexpectedly, out of nowhere, taking possession of all the thoughts of the lovers...

Film is based on the novel „History From The Cloud” by Marius Ivaškevičius. It is a story about a man called Marius and his meetings with various different people. The goal is to make a bargain: people can buy a character in Marius’s novel. However, all these bargains are the cover of his secret.

The long-term war with Sparta ends. The power and prosperity of Athens has sunk into the past; in an atmosphere of general despair and irritation, democracy, tyranny, and oligarchy replace each other. Against this background, the last, tragic period of Socrates’ life takes place.
