A man awakens from a two-month-long coma. Total amnesia. A bullet fired point blank. He doesn't remember anything. He's told that he had a wife and a son. They've been killed. He's revealed his past identity by the Colonel, who insists they are best friends. He's a Major of the Military Security Agency. An inspector from the State Security Agency appears affirming that he has information on people responsible for the massacre of his family. The Major is discharged from the hospital. He tries to patch together a normal life but is confronted with emptiness and despair. His only chance of discovering his identity and the assassin of his family is to accept the game that the Inspector has set up for him with the Businessman, the Mafioso and the Politician. Jasna, a beautiful teenager, leads a crude life in post-war Serbia. She goes on a spree of sex, drugs and partying until she finds love and tenderness in a harsh environment.

When his daughter disappears, Stamen, a retired factory worker from a small industrial town in Serbia must fight a flawed social system to gain custody of his granddaughter, who suffers from a rare condition called “Cat’s Cry Syndrome”.

The film is taking place in Belgrade for 24 hours. Follows a few stories and speaks about young urban characters, their lives, their ideals and feelings, and raises the question of whether they still have them.

Mirko suffers from nightmares as he struggles to cope with the recent loss of his father. His mother, Vesna, is finding it difficult to manage as a single parent, but increasingly seeks support and friendship from their kind neighbor, Jova. As Vesna and Jova grow closer, Mirko’s disapproval becomes more aggressive, and his lack of self-control strains his relationship with his mother. The situation shifts when Mirko’s childhood friend Marina arrives in the village for the summer holidays. The emotions that develop between them seem to fill the emptiness in Mirko’s heart. Through these new experiences, Mirko begins to see his mother with eyes full of understanding.

After years of living in Canada, Maria returns to Serbia to visit her grandmother, Lela, who now resides in a nursing home. Initially overjoyed with her grandmothers excitement to see her, Maria soon realizes that Lela believes she is actually 'Manuela', a character from her favorite soap opera...
