The story follows Maria – a teenager whose mother used to be a hoarder. Now (set in the 90s) she lives in a foster home where a previous resident, Michael, inspires her to revisit the childhood memories and passions that she has repressed.

Over the course of a single day, quiet moments, half heard conversations, and unspoken truths surface as Tom, his family, and the palliative care team navigate the fragile space between hope and acceptance. Struggling to communicate what matters most, Tom must confront the weight of what he has never said, and what time may no longer allow him to say. Set against the intimate backdrop of a working class family in Stoke-on-Trent, Between Breath and Silence explores love, loss, and the complexities of communication when words fall short.
