Biography
A Syrian actress, born in Damascus to an artistic family. Her grandfather was the famous oud player Omar El Naqshbandi. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at Damascus University, but she did not practice law, as she pursued a career in acting. She started her career through children's programs. She participated in many productions in theater, cinema and television, and her beginning was in the early seventies. One of her first movies was A Prank in Mexico, and her first play was King Lear, while her first television roles were in the series Fawzia, The Wings, and Narrow Paths.

That Which Remains
Based on Ghassan Kanafani's novel, 'Returning to Haifa,' this film, set in 1967, centres on a Palestinian couple who return to the war-torn city to search for their young son Farhan, whom they were forced to abandon when fleeing Zionist acts of terrorism in 1948. Saeed and Atefeh's own house has even been taken over by a Polish Jewish family, who, it transpires, are holding Farhan hostage. It is up to the couple, with the assistance of Farhan's steely grandmother, to find a way to reclaim their lost son. One of the few Iranian films to tackle the Palestinian issue from a historical perspective, this stunning piece of work from Seifollah Daad features meticulous attention to period detail and moving performances.

Based on the idea of reincarnation, the work tells the story of Ahed, a young man who works in the pottery industry and lives in a village in northern Palestine with his family, where he is haunted by obsessions and memories from another life in another place.
