Thomas Geer is an American journalist who comes to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to make an objective report on political events and conflicts. The main actor in his report is a high-ranking official who is responsible for making an identity law. Thomas reveals too much information through his investigation on the aforementioned politicians, and revealing things that might change direction on the radical moves.

The story begins in a small village in central Bosnia in 1989, when Asad, a 25-year-old boy, returns from school with the desire to marry his childhood sweetheart. Not knowing that his son already has marriage plans, father Agan arranges his son's marriage with the father of another girl whom Asad does not even know. After the sudden death of his father, the whole village begins to remind Asad of his bequest to his father, and until then the boring everyday life in the village becomes a dynamic and comical revelation of all the characters and their individual stories.

A group of spunky seniors launch an armed rebellion against the employees of their retirement home, where they’ve been subjected to years of abuse and humiliation. Abandoned by their loved ones and left with nothing to lose, they stage an insurrection that grabs headlines, shocks the country — and proves that it’s never too late to find something worth fighting for.
