In an attempt to win back the public's interest, has-been Hong Kong film star Lau Wai-chi makes a comeback film with a major director. To prepare for his role as a peasant farmer in the 1960s, he travels to the mainland China countryside to experience rural life there, but his arrogance triggers a series of farces.
This film tells the story of Ma Jun, an early revolutionary martyr of the Chinese Communist Party. After joining the Party in 1920, he organized the May Fourth Movement, helped establish underground Party branches in Northeast China, and studied in the Soviet Union. Upon returning, he was appointed Secretary and Organization Minister of the Beijing Municipal Committee. Ultimately, he was betrayed and died heroically for the revolutionary cause.
A disgraced "kung fu fraud" teams up with rival masters to turn his hometown into a martial arts tourist trap, only to face a hidden truth as the scheme gains unexpected success.
