A young man, Bill, wakes up in his home startled and confused about his surroundings being warped. Upon investigating his surroundings a haglike woman startles him causing him to escape his house and wander into memories that bring him back to his senses and help him realise who he is, until the night dawns and the cycle repeats itself again.

A boy reads about the attacks of a unknown animal on livestock in the town. He plans to run his own investigation. The so called beast however is also used as a metaphor for every day problems the townsfolk face.
