Stanley Kovack (Tim Bentinck) is an aging stand up comedian living in London. After a lifetime of easy successes and failed promises, he is left with little more than the memories of his auspicious beginnings. As he stands on the ruins of his personal life and in the last throws of his career, Stanley finds an opportunity for fame and success. He meets Morris (James Phelps), a young stand up comedian at his creative peak and on the verge of comedic triumph.
During a lecture tour to London, an American psychologist decides to look up her hitherto unknown half-sister and find out about her father who died 10 years earlier. But as she delves into the truth surrounding her father's death she encounters a family that has created a wall of secrecy and lies.
