Riyaz Khan is an Indian film actor and bodybuilder who predominantly works in Malayalam and Tamil cinema, besides acting in a few Telugu and Kannada films, as well as one Hindi film.

Ponnar Shankar is based on historical novel written by Kalangir M. Karunanidhi. Story is about the two warriors, both are brothers named Ponner and Sankar living in Kongu Nadu (present day Coimbatore, Erode etc..). This is a historical movie and these two warriors are even worshipped today at most of the above mentioned part of Tamil Nadu.

After being hit by an iron rod, Sanjay Ramaswamy, a business tycoon, suffers from anterograde amnesia. He is unable to remember anything beyond fifteen minutes. Under such circumstances, he sets out on a quest to find the people who were responsible for his lover Kalpana's murder.

ACP Bose (Karthik) is a sincere police officer happily married (Anu Hassan) and living with his parents and younger brother Velu (Arun Vijay). Velu is a college student and he falls in love with his classmate Anjali (Dhansika). Umapathi (Chandrasekar) enters, who is notorious for settlements and land deals. He kills anyone who comes in his way and does not leave any evidence or witness behind. He takes a loan of 100 crores from a private bank with the help of a cunning DGP and a politician. He kills the bank’s chairman in order to avoid repayment and puts the blame on Bose. Bose tries to stop Umapathi. Velu also gets into disputes with Umapathi. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
