Rima Melati (born August 22th, 1939) is an Indonesian actress.

Hendro, Diana’s father, does not approve of her romance with Bije, and wants to marry Tony. Then Diana runs away with Bije to a small village where Diana’s aunt lives. This infuriates Hendro and he orders his men to capture Bije. Eventually, Bije and Diana return. When Diana is at home, she feels pain in her abdomen, and she is diagnosed of having a malignant cancer in her ulcer and won’t live long. Hendro even apologises to Bije’s father, but the latter refuses him. Bije even begs to his father to apologise to Hendro, but instead, Bije is thrown out of the house. Eventually Bije and Diana get married, but before the honeymoon ends, Diana passes away on Bije’s lap.
Wimar and Titi’s household is breaking up after their son dies in a training aircraft. Titi’s mother accuses Wimar for causing the death, because he wanted to be a pilot like his father. Wimar doesn’t feel at home in his house. Lia is his only consolation. Then Wimar meets Ida, a former lover and in Ida’s arms, Wimar feels peaceful. Lia feels Ida is more like a mother for her. When the relationship is discovered, Wimar is banished from home. Then Lia is pregnant out of wedlock, so she tries to abort her baby but is hospitalized instead. When the family members gather, Ida feels guilty for being a homewrecker. Then she has a car accident and dies. Dedy who impregnates Lia promises to take responsibility. Finally, Wimar returns to his wife in accordance to the late Ida’s wish.
Dewi, who has many love problems with her boyfriends, falls into the arms of Dayan, her boss, who also has a problem after becoming a successful businessman. Being told by his doctor that he has only a few months left to live, he suddenly feels the emptiness at home. His wife, Anneke, has her own occupation. His two children are studying abroad, while the youngest rarely sleeps at home and eventually dies while playing Russian roulette. Dayan and Dewi find a mutual need to release the burden. The situation changes with the appearance of Ferico, an old school friend of Dewi, who continues to pursue her after his divorce. Both Dayan and Dewi finally return to their partners. Director Arifin chooses a “poetic” style of telling the story so that the storyline follows the internal conflicts of the characters. The poetry is also characterized by slick photography.
Aline becomes pregnant by Andre in Paris, where she learns fashion. Their relationship is broken when Andre asks Aline to have an abortion. Aline returns to Indonesia with Prasetyo, a dance choreographer and together, they raise Aline’s child. Years later, Andre returns to Indonesia and causes Aline to be confused between returning to Paris or to remain in Indonesia.

Riri, will be free from her stepmother when she marries Leo and leaves for Jakarta. But Leo is a supplier of women, for a high-class brothel, owned by Mama Rosa. Thus Riri is "forced" to be a resident of the brothel. Ferdi, her friend from the village, who opens a tyre shop near the brothel, abuses her. Ferdi is drunk, and forces Riri to have sex with him. Then, Ferdi is tortured by the brothel bouncers, until he is burning for revenge. He then becomes a waiter at a kick-boxing club, and becomes an amateur boxer, while Riri still continues her profession. One day, they meet each other in a shopping center and Ferdi asks Riri to run away with him. When the men of Mama Rosa finds them, Ferdi knocks them out one by one with a broken beer bottle. He is thrown into jail while Riri waits for him.

The death of Mrs. Maengkom causes some change in her family. Willy Maengkom, the father of four children, has to learn to manage the household. He becomes extremely busy because his oldest daughter, Elsa, has to be hospitalized after the death of her mother, who slipped on a bathroom brush that Elsa left. After she recovers, Elsa feels the responsibility to replace her mother. Taking care of her father and her three siblings changes her. She is not the lively and active teen in church and school anymore, and starts behaving like a housewife.
Pringgo, a wealthy businessman, catches his fiancée making out with another man. In a frustrated state, Pringgo has a car accident. According to the doctors who treat him, Pringgo has to undergo surgery to cure his paralysis. But he doesn’t have the courage and loses the hope to live. While he is treated in a sanatorium, Pringgo gets acquainted with Astuti, a frustrated girl. They finally get married, although in the beginning the relationship is based on pity rather than love. Mrs. Heru, Pringgo’s sister, and Mrs. Brasti, head of Pringgo’s household, oppose this marriage. Mrs. Brasti manages to harm Astuti, which is found out by Pringgo. Then Mrs. Brasti is fired. Gradually he realises how much Astuti really loves him and not for the money he has. Thus Pringgo finds his life spirit back, and has the courage to undergo surgery.
Danti is a strong-willed woman, but she has to marry Irawan to help her father who is in debt. Danti always feels like a whore since her marriage started from a “debt payment”. In the middle of her pregnancy, Danti runs away to live alone. She feels that she has paid her father’s debt with the result of her work. She tells Irawan that she has had a miscarriage, but in truth, she is raising her child alone. Two men try to approach her to propose marriage but she refuses them both. Later, she realises that she loves Irawan. When the child has an accident, Danti asks Irawan to donate his blood. Then Irawan finds out that he has a child.
Since her husband is cheating on her with her own sister, Rosnia, who initially intends to kill her husband, accidentally kills her own sister. For that, she is sentenced to eight years jail while pregnant. She is treated by Dr. Herman, who yearns for children but his wife, Dea, is too busy with her career. Herman grows closer to Rosnia, as she is severely depressed after the delivery. Herman manages to revive Rosnia’s life spirit, and he even becomes famous for his writing entitled "Di Balik Dinding Kelabu" (Behind Grey Walls), which is published in a popular women's magazine. Meanwhile, Dea achieves her goal of becoming a famous designer. Then Herman chooses Rosnia, however, at the last moment, Dea realises her mistake. She catches up with Herman who brings Rosnia home, and promises to be a good wife. Rosnia holds her child and walks away, leaving Herman and Dea.

Coincidentally, Sugeng and Slamet both have twin children and gave both sets of twins the same names, Dorce and Donny. Both sets of twins then go separately to Jakarta, while Rudi, son of Koco, is sent to pick up Sugeng’s twins, but instead, picks up Slamet’s children, who have arrived first. Then Sugeng’s twins also go to Koco’s house where they meet the other pair of twins to create confusion and silliness. Finally Sugeng and a talent seeker arrive and the misunderstanding is resolved.
