A movie directed by Danesh Eghbashavi

The third outing for Danesh Eghbashavi was filmed with two iPhones, a small hand-held camera, a GoPro action camera, and the appreciable influence of Roger Corman. This rousing genre blend of comedy, detective story and mockumentary demonstrates that, even in the present day, independent film can incorporate aspects of the revolutionary gesture. In a brisk and complex way it tells a story which might suggest it was filmed by its protagonists as a live broadcast. The sophisticated narrative composition is akin to the process of opening out Chinese nested boxes – the characters know what is going to happen and they provide the appropriate commentary as well. Archive shots are also added to the mix. An explosive world premiere.

This film tells the story of two brothers who have different lifestyles and thoughts. When their father is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, their lives undergo many changes and developments. Each of the brothers, at each stage of the strange events that happen to them during the film, understands the shortcomings and flaws of their lifestyle and changes it.

Tehran's air pollution has reached maximum levels because of thermal inversion. Unmarried 30-something Niloofar lives with her aged mother, and stays busy with her alterations shop. When doctors insist that her mother must leave smoggy Tehran for her respiratory health, Niloofar’s brother and family elders decide that she must also move away to accompany her mother. Now Niloofar is torn between family loyalty and living her own life. As the youngest she has always obeyed their orders. Can she stand up for herself this time?

Niloofar is a twelve-year-old girl whose dream is to read and write, but she lives in a village where education is only for boys. Her mother, a well-known midwife, insists that Niloofar become her apprentice. While assisting her mother during a delivery, Niloofar meets a feminist woman who undertakes to teach her in secret. Unfortunately, in exchange of a palm tree field, Niloofar's father promises her in marriage to an older man once she becomes a woman. Horrified by this notion, Niloofar does everything in her power to postpone her first periods. Eventually, the inevitable occurs. HOwever, Niloofar, who is determined to keep her freedom as long as possible, arranges to conceal the fact from her family for another two years until the truth can no longer be hidden. Then, rather than live in a marriage without love, Niloofar runs away with her friend. Shocked, her family considers itself dishonored and sends her step-brother to track her down

Bahman (Parviz Parastui) returns from Europe to put his late father's house in order. The maid, Pari (Mahtab Nasirpour), hired by Bahman's cousin, arrives to help him out. Hired against his will, he finds her intrusion annoying. When Pari needs his help, the isolated Bahman must decide whether to get involved. Pari’s life is complicated and her friendship with the young, unruly Samaneh, may be her downfall. Soheila Golestani's directorial debut is a beautifully shot and thought-provoking triumph.
