Marie Gruber fights tooth and claw to keep her café open. And yet she should be facing her "arch-enemy" with pure hostility. Herbert Krcal (Roland Düringer) and his wife Margit (Nina Proll) dream of owning a home. They prefer to do this in the "Blue Lagoon", a prefabricated house park in the south of Vienna, where they regularly go on pilgrimage with their son Philipp. Just as regularly, they have to recognize the bitter truth that they cannot actually afford the dream house they have visited.

Dr. Kurt Weimar, a busy divorce lawyer and ladies' darling, has successfully divorced the well-known chanson singer Ramona. As a thank you, she offers him her luxurious country house on Lake Wörthersee for a weekend. So it happens that – unbeknownst to each other – Dr. Kurt Weimar, his attractive colleague Dr. Bettina Hofer, his fun-loving father, his latest flame, her jealous husband, Kurt's cheerful secretary Piffi, and his girlfriend Rita all gather for a cozy weekend at the lakeside villa. The finale at Ramona's house, where they inevitably meet, turns into a furious showdown.

In the made-up country of Alanien, King Alexander I has been overthrown while abroad. Now, he's in Vienna with his daughter, the city of his fondest memories since studying there as a boy. It doesn't take long for the charm of Vienna to work its magic on the former king: he quickly comes to terms with the new situation and is able to enjoy the Austrian capital sans all the ceremony and trappings which would otherwise accompany him on a state visit. The princess is content with preparing herself for a career as a pianist concert, while the former king takes a job as a chauffeur in the embassy of the country he once ruled. The revolutionaries are shocked; and his days in Vienna are numbered.

Vienna, 1826. The penniless composer Franz Schubert lives with friends in the house of court glazier Tschöll and his wife. Because of their three beautiful daughters, Hederl, Haiderl, and Hannerl, the property is called the "Three Girls' House." Hederl and Haiderl celebrate a double wedding with the gentlemen, master saddler Bruneder and postmaster Binder. Due to an intrigue by soprano Lucia Grisi, Hannerl, with whom Schubert is in love but dares not reveal herself, turns away from him and marries singer Franz von Schober. Schubert is left with nothing but music.
