Famed folk artists Peter, Paul, and Mary celebrate their 25th anniversary in a live performance at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville.

In this DVD release of their PBS-TV special "Carry It On", the trio recalls the beginnings of the cultural revolution of the '60's, when music emerged as a unifying force amidst the turbulent currents of social change. Carefully chosen archival footage traces the group's phenomenal career, as a musical and personal story is told through selected concert and interview segments.

Including footage of King's stirring speeches, it is a fitting tribute to his legacy, and features clips narrated by a wide range of celebrities, including Harry Belafonte, Paul Newman Charlton Heston, Ruby Dee, Burt Lancaster, Anthony Quinn, Walter Matthau, Ben Gazzara, Clarence Williams III, Joanne Woodward, and James Earl Jones.

Black and white footage of performances, interviews, and conversations at the Newport Folk Festival, from 1963 to 1966. The headliners are Peter, Paul and Mary, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Bob Dylan, who's acoustic and electric. Son House and Mike Bloomfield talk about the blues; John Hurt, Howlin' Wolf, and Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee show its range. The Osborne Brothers perform bluegrass. Donovan, Johnny Cash, Judy Collins, Mimi and Dick Farina, and others less well known also perform. Several talk musical philosophy, and there's a running commentary about the nature and appeal of folk music. The crowd looks clean cut.

A behind the scenes look at popular folk music trio Peter, Paul & Mary. Accompanying the group on tour across the country, Hooper captures members Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers rehearsing and performing as well as appearing at civil rights and anti-war demonstrations.

Interviews, archival footage and home movies are used to illustrate a social history of folk artist and activist Pete Seeger.

50 Years With Peter Paul And Mary is a documentary by four-time Emmy Award-winning producer/ director Jim Brown and features rare and previously unseen television footage including a BBC program from the early 1960s that embodies many of the trio's best performances and most popular songs.
