Germany during the Cold War, a boy has fled Czechoslovakia. Star reporter Walter Roland investigates the background. In the process, he uncovers a plot: Western and Eastern agents are on the hunt for the Warsaw Pact's deployment plans against NATO, which a Czech officer has taken out of the country.
In 1940, the Royal Air Force fights a desperate battle against the might of the Luftwaffe for control of the skies over Britain, thus preventing an attempted Nazi invasion.
8 year-old Patrick is left far too much on his own, due to the fact that his parents both work. The parents make it clear that they love their son, but only when they are hurrying out of the house, or have a guilty conscience. Patrick's need for tenderness is only fulfilled in his imagination.
A somewhat prim and proper Englishman is hired as the tutor to the son of the Japanese ambassador. His life changes when he and the boy are kidnapped by terrorists for political purposes.
