Things are hectic at the "Black and White Horse Inn" on Lake Königssee. Cordula, the young owner of the long-established family business, has just learned that her father, who died five years ago, included a clause in his will: If she fails to find a husband in the hospitality industry, she must hand the "horse" over to her greedy uncle Simon. He, in turn, had hidden the will in order to present it to Cordula now, just before the deadline. She has two weeks to fulfill her father's wishes. While she has an ideal candidate in her charming head waiter, Franz, the much-loved man is completely unaware that his boss has secretly been in love with him for a long time. Instead, Franz believes he has found the woman of his life in the pretty hotel management student Monika.

On his way to Vienna, veterinarian Klaus Wolf meets Biggi, a hitchhiker. Klaus is supposed to examine rhinos in Vienna, but with a monkey addicted to alcohol and other animal problems, Klaus has enough on his plate. He finds it rather inappropriate that he now also has Biggi on his hands. But he soon discovers a new, shy soul who is not as unsuitable as he initially thought.
The single farmer Christian is highly sought after by the young, marriage-minded women of the area, but so far he has successfully evaded all matchmaking attempts. Last time, the somewhat bawdy country women Vroni and Petronella were offered to him as potential wives at the marriage market, but this time too he firmly rejected them. However, these young ladies feel personally attacked by his rejection and are now plotting revenge. To do so, they first need to get close to Christian, so Vroni and Petronella disguise themselves as a pig-suckling girl and a stable boy, respectively, and go to Christian's farm looking for work.
