Lovable goon Munna falls for a morning radio host by the name of Jahnvi, who also runs an elders' home which an unscrupulous builder seeks to attain. In order to gain Jahnvi’s attention, he cheats his way to winning a Mahatma Gandhi radio quiz. When Jahnvi consequently expresses interest in Munna, he and his best friend Circuit attempt to keep up the facade.

Malhar (Nana Patekar), who is born to a poor typist clerk, is a versatile character who wins trophies in dramas but is never appreciated by his father. While writing and directing dramas in his college he meets Apoorva (Madhuri Dixit), a very rich girl, and falls madly in love with her. When she wins the Best Actress Award, she calls upon Malhar on stage and gives all the credit to him. Malhar misunderstands this gestures as Apoorva's love for him.

A blind, orphan girl aspires to be a successful singer. With the help of another street performer, she sets out to make a mark and in the process discovers her real parents.

Burma-based widow, Parvati, along with two sons, Prem and Rajesh, re-locates to Bombay to live with her late husband's friend and widower, Sewakram, and his two daughters, Shanti and Durga. He returns some cash and jewelery to her that was entrusted to him, and she re-locates to live in a big bungalow. Shortly thereafter, Prem and Rajesh get married to Shanti and Durga respectively. The entire family live harmoniously until Parvati is told by Mrs. Pereira that Prem has been physically abusing his pregnant wife. Parvati and Rajesh undertake to rein-in Prem - and it this overture that will not only shatter their idyllic lifestyle but force both brothers to take up arms against each other.

Kindly Dr. Gupta (Ashok Kumar) is preparing to retire, and hopes to marry his daughter Jyoti (Zarina Wahab) to his associate Dr. Anand (Parikshit Sahani). Anand does not have time to romance, or assist Dr. Gupta on his large egg farm, so he hires a college friend as property manager, Mukesh (Vijayendra). Jyoti is entranced by Mukesh, and against her fathers wishes decides to marry him. Mukesh has his eyes set on the good life, but unknown to Jyoti he is already married to Geeta (Sarika), whom he abandoned with a child when he found out she was Anpadh (illiterate). Dr. Gupta has an accident one night, injuring a woman named Geeta and brings her home to recuperate. He teaches her how to mingle with high society, dress and eat properly, and ensures the education of her son. In return for his decency and compassion, Jyoti prepares to marry Dr. Gupta. When her father arrives for the festivities, he recognizes Mukesh.

Indu and Shekar Gupta are an exemplary couple with a young son, who live a harmonious lower middle class life despite of spiraling inflation and costs of living. Their love and respect for each other is put to the test when Shekar's parents, and his unmarried sister decide to move in with them in their tiny apartment. Shekar's income is not enough to take care of their extended family, and to make matters worse, Shekar loses his job. Indu and Shekar decide that Indu must find employment, which she does, much to the dismay of her in-laws. Things get worse when Shekar's dad, Raghunath, witnesses Indu in the company of a male in a fancy restaurant, and thinks that she is having an affair. When told about this incident, Shekar shakes his head with disbelief, then changes his mind when he finds out that Indu has not only being going out with another male, but also with her boss, Mr. Dutt. Shekar must now make a decision about Indu, a decision which may well bring their marriage to an end.

After businessman Ram Pratap Singh (Raj Babbar) gives police information pertaining to a journalist's murder, gangster Jagmohan (Danny Denzongpa) goes to prison for the crime. Soon, Singh's life turns upside down when Jagmohan's cohorts begin peppering him with threats. Helped by Inspector Sharma (Suresh Oberoi), he goes into the witness protection program with his wife and child, but the cover may not be enough to keep them safe.

Two close friends, Vimla and Chhaya, part ways when their friendship turns bitter. Years later, when Chhaya is arrested for a crime, Vimla, a lawyer, faces a moral dilemma.

Baffling the authorities, a secret organization with powerful connections is creating havoc and getting away with loads of money. Kedarnath is employed with a local clock/watch repair shop, owned by a parsimonious Adarshan Lala. Kedarnath goes out of his way to help a destitute woman, Maya, who husband is missing, with two daughters, Veena and Vidya. Kedarnath rents a room with them, writes letters to her on behalf of her husband, Pannalal, and even arranges the marriage of Veena with the son of Daulatram. When Maya tells him that she has no money to pay for the marriage expenses, he steals cash from his employer, and tells Maya that the money is from Pannalal. And all along telling Maya that he is a close friend of Pannalal, even though he has never met Pannalal, leave alone know him, making one think as to what devious secret Kedarnath is hiding, and what is the reason behind Pannalal's disappearance.
