During his summer vacation in Mytilene, a young and lonely small-time clerk, Kostas, becomes bewitched by a femme fatale, Anna Parisi, a thirty-five-year-old German woman married to a wealthy local businessman.

During the night of the big earthquake that shook Athens in 1981, Yannis, a 30-year-old cinephile, falls in love with his best friend Yorgos’ girlfriend who allows him to sleep next to her feeling her breast. Yannis and Eva have to overcome Yorgos’ jealousy as well as the ups and downs of their own affair. Since they all seem to be suffering, they form a trio and manage to live together in harmony for some time but then a well-hidden secret from the men’s political activism in the past is about to hit them like a new earthquake.

A mysterious disappearance takes place during the shooting of a commercial on the beach in the early morning hours. An unknown man suddenly comes into the shot, then walks into the sea holding an umbrella and seizes to exist, before the bewildered eyes of the whole crew. After the police are notified, a confusing array of red tape manoeuvers begins, revealing the close affiliations of the Authorities with the advertising company manager and the whole mechanism of Mass Media, all of which are trying not to investigate the event but to conceal or even exploit it in their own interest. Only the musician involved in that commercial is trying to figure out what really happened.
