Unassociated images are freely connected in a dream-like journey. The relationship of a couple, their desire to be together, the difficulties. They leave, they escape their suffocating reality, in an effort to become closer. But the intimacy drives them apart. Visiting remote places, fighting, falling in love: a course on eggshells, on a misty line.
Amongst the constantly talking animals of a herd, the basic rule of normality is the theater of conversation. When a young animal loses its voice and goes into hiding, the talking herd can’t accept its weakness and follows the rule, speaking to it using monologues. The young animal remains silent and the talking herd stands confused and unable to decide whether it’s really sick or just pretending. But as the silent, isolated animal struggles to get its voice back, the talking animals surround its cage and the most distrustful of them attacks.
Petros struggles to find the right way to grief as he attends the funeral of a loved one. He is in denial. As the ceremony progresses, he gets more isolated into his own world, filming everything with his Hi8 camera. People “demand” of him to be more normal, but he only wants to be on his own. When he arrives home, exhausted, he must face reality.
Just before turning thirty, Danny and Stella often feel lost and disorientated. This is the chronicle of their relationship that reveals the portrait of their generation with sarcastic humour and sincerity.
Tungsten deals with the idea of electricity as a metaphor, the scenery is urban, and the plot is unfolded during a single day. One day in Athens, continuous outages, and a final blackout, caused by the strike of technicians at the electricity company. A day during which, six people's lives are being crossed and diverted.
