Afghanistan. War correspondent Elsa Casanova is taken hostage by the Taliban. Faced with her imminent execution, a Special Forces unit is dispatched to free her. In some of the world’s most breathtaking yet hostile landscapes, a relentless pursuit begins between her kidnappers who have no intention of letting their prey escape them and a group of soldiers who risk their lives in pursuit of their single aim – to bring her home alive. This strong, independent woman and these men of duty are thrown together and forced to confront situations of great danger that inextricably bind them – emotionally, violently and intimately.

One of the mountain passes of Tajikistan, which is an important strategic object, is controlled by the Basmati detachment of Kurbashi Kerim Dodho, who is respected by the people. The head of the OGPU Paramonov, in order to avoid bloodshed, convinces Kurbashi of the expediency of holding peace talks. But it's not so easy to catch up with the criminal, one of the best participants in the horse attraction...

Student Malika studies at one of the universities in Dushanbe. Her hobby is field hockey, and she is the center of attack for the Sogdiana women's team. One day, Malika meets Said, who studied at the University of Bombay, where the young man, it turns out, learned not only the humanities, but also the game of field hockey, kung fu techniques, and even the secrets of the skill of Indian dancers. Said instantly falls in love with Malika and soon becomes the coach of Sogdiana. But the proud girl, offended by the new coach’s comments, goes to the synchronized swimming section. Disguised as a correspondent, Said enters the pool.

This movie is about the life of Marat Ayumov, a former soldier from Kazakhstan who fought in Afghaninstan. The past and present are interwoven in the memories of the protagonist. Throughout the film, in fragmented flashbacks, the hero recollects the time when he, as a soldier, fought in the armed conflict in the mountainous country as he travels to Afghanistan to accompany a young and creative TV crew making a documentary called “Following Alexander the Great”.

The film explores the complex issues of father-child relationships, traditional values, and mutual understanding between different generations — in this case, between a city teenager and his grandfather who lives in a rural village.
