Genka is a schoolboy from Moscow. Having seen enough American action movies, he longs for adventure and the opportunity to try himself in a real man's business. His imagination is filled with visions of his idols - Schwarzenegger, Stallone, star humanoids - who offer Genka to leave the earth. However, the hero chooses the "region of heaven“ with true idols who restore the concepts of friendship, honor, and love to their noble meaning, which have been devalued today.

Maksym, a boy from a well-off and successful family, loves Masha. Masha, a girl from an orphanage, loves Maksym. This story could have ended with an expected marriage, but Susan, an American girl, arrives in Kyiv searching for her ancestry. The love line turns into a dramatic triangle.

Bolsheviks aim to set their rules on the lands of the Western Ukraine repeatedly occupied by them. UPA - the partisan army - resists their policy. The civilian population becomes a hostage of this war "without rules", and above all – relatives of the insurgents. Invaders and their allies cruelly torture the Ukrainian people, but the struggle continues. Irritated, "bolshevists" start evicting people to Siberia. UPA tries to prevent this action, but the forces are not equal. Insurgents can only take revenge and punish the executioners.

Long time ago Ukrainian hetman sent his treasures to the British bank, hoping that later Ukraine will get rid of the Moscow yoke and then gold will help Ukrainian people. In modern times KGB agents and foreign spies hunt for hetman's descendant - Ivan Polubotko, guy phlegmatic and narrow-minded, to use him to get the treasure.
