A modern interpretation of the ancient Chukchi legend of love. The young hunter fell in love with the daughter of the sun, but with his last rays, the beauty left the earth, afraid of the cold. And the hunter decided to get wolverine fur for her, hunting for which is a big risk.

The young schoolboy goes to the village where his grandfather died in battle during the Great Patriotic War. In the village, the boy finds friends among his peers. The boys decide secretly, by their own efforts, to build a monument to the fallen soldiers. Gradually, their work ceases to be secret - and fellow villagers join in the construction of the monument.

The summer of 1971 was hot and dry. This circumstance ensured that the plan would be exceeded and promised large earnings for Ivan Kopyriv's geological exploration expedition, which was located in the area of the Tunguska village of Erbogachen. Upon encountering a layer of permafrost, master Yelfimov, contrary to fire safety regulations, ordered the permafrost to be thawed with bonfires. However, the dry and gusty wind did its job: the resulting fire spread with catastrophic speed to the continuous forest areas, and the situation spiraled out of control.

Mergen, an engineer, returns to Tuva, dreaming of working for its betterment. Tuva is developing, with new houses and electricity reaching remote areas. However, the chairman of the collective farm, Elbek, opposes building a bridge across the turbulent mountain river. Meanwhile, Adar, the son of old Kawai-ool, has forgotten his countrymen and stayed in the city. The old man tried to bring Adar home, but he refused. Adar’s fiancée, Oyunmaa, waits for him in vain, disliking the sycophantic Daji who courts her. But the old bridge was destroyed by water, forcing Elbek to agree to a new one. Adar also returns to Tuva, and his friends and fiancée welcome him joyfully.
