The story takes place in the Belgrade mental hospital on Guberevac during the WWI, where notable Serbian writer Petar Kočić spends his last years of life. The safety of mental hospital in a war-torn Belgrade is disrupted when the deputy military governor in occupied Belgrade, Kosta Herman, finds out that Kočić is in the hospital and decides to settle old scores with him.

Mile, a runaway boy from the orphanage, spends his days and nights on the streets, begging for money and food. Cast out and alone, he manages to get close with a group of boys living on the streets. His desire to belong somewhere gets him involved in a turn of events he could never imagine.

The movie takes us through the saga of the actor, Veljko Radisavljević, who has the impression that the entire universe has conspired against him.

As life often does, their interests took them in different directions, and their friendship suffered consequences. However, after a long time, they get together on the occasion of the wedding of one of them.
