Naoko Asari (浅梨 なおこ, Asari Naoko, born January 24) is a Japanese film sound engineer and animation sound director from Tokyo. She joined Omnibus Promotion in 1981 as a sound assistant. She mainly worked on Studio Ghibli works, and after that, she worked on many live-action, film music and sound editing. After being away from the animation sound direction for a long time since the 1996 TV anime Kodocha, she was in charge of the recording direction of the 2013 movie The Tale of the Princess Kaguya for the first time in 17 years, her first Studio Ghibli work since the 1995 film Whisper of the Heart.

During World War II, the Japanese military established a secret underground laboratory in Tokyo. Three Olympic-level athletes were selected to undergo a process that would turn them into Jinra-go, superhuman armored soldiers. By March 1945, one of the soldiers had been completely transformed into the half man/half machine ultimate soldier called Mikadroid. But American B-29s firebomb the city and, while the two super soldiers manage to escape, Mikadroid and the lab are apparently destroyed. 45 years pass, Tokyo is rebuilt, and old secrets are forgotten. The site is now home to a complex that includes the Discoclub Layla. The disco’s patrons dance late into the night, unaware that a faulty basement generator has reactivated Mikadroid and the cyborg now prowls the basement levels, killing anyone in its path...

Prodded by a friend request, a feckless forty-something recalls his past relationships from the 90s onward, looking for his vanished hopes and dreams.

Kenta, a young pianist who has just lost his job, is drowning his woes at a bar, when he meets a man in a Hawaiian shirt named Yamaki. He invites Kenta to work with him, and the next thing he knows, Kenta wakes up to find himself in a room he has never been in before. It is a strange room that seems to have no connection to life. He descends a staircase to find many shelves of books.
