In the Tuscan countryside at the end of the 19th century, Pietro, the shy son of a tyrannical landowner, falls in love with Ghisola, a peasant girl with no family. His father has her sent away. Years later, the two meet again: still in love with her, Pietro would like to marry her, but she has become the mistress of a married man.

Christian, well-off of a certain age, lives alone in a house between the moors and the sea on the Sardinian coast, she loved dearly by Ghiana, a peasant married. The arrival in the farmhouse near the young and charming Sara, who takes care of the mentally ill husband, upsets the life of Christian and his relationship with Ghiana, arousing in him love and anguish.

Both from the same neighborhood of Livorno, filmmaker Paolo Virzì interviews singer-songwriter Roberto 'Bobo' Rondelli about his art.

A free and imaginary portrait of Piero Ciampi (1934-1980), singer-songwriter and poet from Livorno, which takes its name from one of his last texts. Through the evocation of illusory spaces, real places, interventions of those who were his friends and knew him, we proceed by flashes and suggestions to the staging of an artistic parable, nourished by tumultuous love, contempt for life, alcohol and genius, which has left an indelible mark in the history of songwriting.
