Set in France in 1961-1962 during the Algerian War, Living in Paradise is a thought-provoking examination of the lives of North African immigrants trying to find a place in the social system of Western Europe.

Fred, a photographer, is in Tunisia to report on the « Bezness » (male prostitutes). Thanks to Roufa, Fred will discover this surprising environment where young men are confronted with the contradictions between tradition and modernity.

A community of people rejected by society live in an abandoned residence located in a "Medina": an old town in Tunisia. Al Bab, a local criminal running the residence's prostitution circle, returns from prison on his wedding day. His family wants to marry him at all costs to his neighbor Rym (30) to put an end to his hesitation, and the bad tongues that do not spare hardened single people. Not daring to oppose his family's decision to marry, Hamid prefers to avoid the atmosphere of preparations.
